Summerhill, Book 3

Imogen Summerhill, box office darling, has never wanted to be in the spotlight less.

When racy photos--and video!--are leaked by her sleazy ex, her studio couldn't be happier. All press is good press, and this will only enhance the intrigue about her upcoming blockbuster. But how is Gigi supposed to be taken seriously as an actress with all this inappropriate buzz? She's Cate Blanchett, not Kim Kardashian.

But then Gigi meets Merrick Graham, the Bad Boy of Politics. The last thing either of them wants is to be tainted by more scandal: he needs the support of the conservatives, and she wants to untarnish her image.

Only they can't resist each other--separately they're good, but in the bedroom they're even better. They can't be seen together in public, but in private all's fair game, and there's plenty of room to misbehave...

My thoughts…

OK let me start out by saying that I have not read any other books by this author. I read the synopsis for this book and was immediately interested. I guess I looked over the whole book 3 thing but oh well. The book can be read as a standalone. I am sure I would have enjoyed the book a whole lot more having known some of the other characters from the other books. It was great either way.

The book was well written and easy to read. I fell in love with Imogen aka Gigi. She was such a good character. She was always on the move and she knew what she wanted. Granted in the beginning she was almost too focused on her job but she figured out the role that love and work would have in her life and it didn't take all that much for her to see it. Her character was easy to love. She had some bad stuff happen in the media and she was label a…well a slut. Which is far from the truth. Don’t get me wrong she is not a virgin, she likes sex, but she is not a slut. They are too very different things. I really liked that by the end she took her life back from the media. She realized what was going to make her happy and went after it. In a way she was inspiring. Not many people know what is going to make their life happy, much less go after it once they figure it out.

Merrick was completely amazing. He was kind of dull in the beginning. He was being labeled as the “Bad boy of Politics” which he really wasn't. Yes many politicians do not get there start in a famous boy band but that doesn't make him a bad boy anymore. He is trying to get people to see him differently so that he can get an important bill passed. Dating an actress that has a bad reputation isn't going to help. Merrick’s character was kinda sad in the beginning he was living a life trapped in guilt, which wasn't needed, and hiding a part of himself. He was slowly losing it. I loved the interactions between him and Malcolm. They were pretty hilarious. (read the book, you’ll understand) Once Merrick got his head out of his ass he realized that he deserves more than what he was giving himself. His character was pretty amazing after that. The end scene with them was totally swoon worthy. I can imagine being in the crowd of reports (being a bystander of course. Those reporters are scum.) looking up at them like this…

Now the only thing that wasn’t dull about them was their chemistry. The chemistry between the two of them was pretty hot and it started out the minute they saw each other. It didn’t take them long to figure out that they were not going to be able to fight a connection like that. In the beginning I think the sneaking around was adding to the hot factor of their relationship. The intimate scenes between them where scorching hot as well. I loved that the scenes were detail but not overly so. Just enough to make it hot.

Another great thing about this book was the way Gigi and her sisters interacted with each other. You could tell they loved each other and would do anything for the other. Despite the way their father raised them they came back together. All except Tatiana which we will learn more about in the next book. I can’t wait! You can tell they were a family of strong women which is different then most family series I have read. They usually focus of a family of alpha men with a sister or something but this series is about sisters and I loved that.

I will be reading the next one and catching up by reading the first two hehe.
