4 stars!

It was not exactly like spunky, photography student, Abbie Nartey ran away from her life ... except, That She left under the cover of darkness and put three thousand miles between her and her ex-boyfriend's betrayal. She went to London searching for her dream. She never expected to find love, or herself.

Heir to His Family's fortunes tech, sexy, Alexi Chase, is looking for freedom-from his Family  and   from His Past. What he's looking for is not love. With secrets like his, he can not afford to let anyone get too close. Has a chance to rescue him but wondering if the price of keeping secrets is too high.

Will Alexi risk losing love to keep His hidden past? Will Abbie trust herself enough to love again? Or will Their pasts keep them from accepting true love?

My Thoughts ....

"But it was as if the stronger woman inside her finally refused to be silenced."

This book was surprisingly really good. I  was not  really sure what to expect. The book Seemed to suck you in right from the beginning. We  did not  have to sit through her explaining how she got into the life she currently had. We saw how she was treated and saw her snap. Then the real story started off right where we wanted it to. Abbie taking her life back. It was a process and she  did not  Seem to really let it go until the end but she did and that's the point.

I am really Happy When authors do not sensationalize domestic abuse. I understand writing about it. Even giving details. Some stories even call for being brutally honest. What I do not understand is When They use it to shock the reader. And For That purpose only. This book did not do that. We got what we absolutely needed to know. We got to read about a character Becoming strong again and finding the right kind of love.

Abena Nartey

Abbie started out this book in a relationship That was unfair and anything but healthy. When We Entered this story she found out her boyfriend was keeping her from her dream. She had finally had enough. She snapped. It was pretty awesome.

Do not get me wrong drawing a knife Is not ok but in Some Of These types of Circumstances I understand completely. The women are desperate and it is needed for These assholes to feel any signs of the terror they inflict on Their victims everyday.

Anyway. She was strong, she forced him out and packed up and went to London to start her dream. It was sad That her parents and family did not support her but she did it anyway. What kind of mom says she needs someone like her in her former life. I call BS. She did not think she was but she was strong and it was inspiring. London (and Alexi) Brought out the best in her. She learned to be happy again. To be free and feel safe again.

"Like this is my home and It has nothing to do with family, or friends, or school, but more to do with .." She paused, her voice trailing ... "How it makes me feel every morning when i wake up , regardless of what else is going on. There's something about this city. "

Alexi Chase

Who does not love a British man? My god That accent. And he can dance ;-)

(I know)

It's worth it just to read it for him. He was totally swoon-worthy through this whole book. He had secrets and he was a tiny bit broody but it added to His character. He always tried to make Abbie feel comfortable even if he did not understand at the beginning what she had gone through. He did not go through physical abuse but the way His father treats him is just as bad. They are kindred souls That can only bring out the best in each other.

Even though he lied a few times it was always for a good cause. Abbie If he really loved her he Should Have Told When He Realized That he felt strongly but one was not His secret to tell and the other he thought she would run from him . I understand. Did not like it but it was understandable.

"Lex's heart squeezed." I love her, Xander. "
"Then fucking fix it. If you managed to find a way to truly be happy, do not let that shit go for anything."

I loved Xander and Abbie's best friends. It actually Took a little longer for me to like Xander. That I was not happy and he tried to keep Alexi Abbie apart but His past is just as dark and confusing. I warmed up to him and his flirting. They each Brought Their Own flair to the story. Even the model house was pretty hilarious. This book was a great mixture of hilarious characters, love, and about finding yourself. Everyone had Their role to play to bring Alexi from the darkness and to show Abbie That You Are Not Meant to run from everyone.

"Well, good thing for you, I only plan on building on this happy buzz you have going."
She laughed as he nuzzled her throat. "And just what are these plans of yours?"
"How about we start with us loving each other?"
She grinned staring up at him. "Done."
