Twenty-two year old Faren Mitchell hears the two words that change her abbreviated life forever. They're so final Faren decides she has nothing to lose by seizing every remaining moment of what life has to offer.

Until Faren collides with a motorcycle ridden by billionaire Jared “Mick” McKenna.

Even the dark secret of her past and catharsis as a physical therapist can't save Faren from the sexual spiral that waits for her in the arms of a man who commits to no one. When circumstances force her to get a second job as an exotic dancer, Faren never imagines how close that choice will bring her to the brink of a new reality she is unequipped to handle.

TT2

Faren Mitchell keeps the secret of her second job from the one man who could see her through some of the darkest moments of her life. She doesn't want Jared “Mick” McKenna for the billions he's amassed, but for the one thing she's never given any man: her innocence.

Mick's guilt over the injury he inflicted fuels the beginnings of something more; a sexual consumption of each other that neither were anticipating. When Faren's actions don't match her words, Mick suspicions are raised. His feelings turn to ones of protection after Faren is mugged and he can't reconcile his desire for her with the reality they now find themselves in.

As Faren's bucket list grows, so does the danger that surrounds the choices she's made. Can she take what she needs from Mick and also secure her mother's life? Or will the truth she has weaved between the lies doom them both?

TT3

Faren collapses, narrowly escaping discovery upon hearing traumatic news delivered by Thorn. When Thorn becomes her uneasy accomplice in the deception of Mick, Faren decides she needs to come clean with the truth. Shelving her pride might be the last thing she wants to do, but as facts and actions continue to contradict one another, her hands become tied in the lies she creates to survive.

Faren only needs one last lap dance to erase the final debt that hangs over her mother's head like a cloud of doom. But when Ronnie Bunce circles closer to Faren and threatens the last sanctuary she possesses, circumstances unravel to reveal lies that run deeper than she knew.

Can Faren and Mick consummate their passion before her deceit is discovered? Or will the last dance be the ultimate loss?

The Token

My thoughts….

This was a great start to the novella series. There are lots of questions that I can’t wait to get answered. I’m not usually one for these novella series but I think that I am going to enjoy this one.

Faren’s life is pretty much a mess. Her mother is in a coma after being beaten by her husband. Faren is working as an exotic dancer (well it’s a little more than that). She is pretty much selling her morals every other night to keep her mom in a good caregiving home. She goes to the doctor and learns news that changes everything. If that wasn’t enough she gets run over by a sexy billionaire.

This story has really interesting start. The author is doing a really good job of only giving you enough information to satisfy some of your curiosity. She also manages to keep you guessing. We don’t really know much about any of the characters in the book. Even Faren remains sort of a mystery for us. It’s intriguing.

This is definitely a dark story so be prepared for that. If you like sweet romantic stories this one is not for you. The author does a great job in keeping us invested in Jared and Faren. We only meet Jared in the last couple of chapters but I immediately wanted him to figure her out so that I could figure her out lol.

This series has a lot going for it. It's steamy and suspenseful. You are not really sure what more can be brought into the story but the author seems to keep building the story line flawlessly. I am really enjoying this so far. Let’s see what the next one has in store for us.

The Token 2

My thoughts…

I can’t get over how tragically heartbreaking this story is turning out to be!!!

This story starts our right at the end of the first one. Faren is still doing her dancing and still trying to fight the chemistry she is feeling for Mick. She has enough going on that she doesn’t want to add love to the mix but the chemistry and pull between them is too much. She has fallen whether she wants to admit it or not.

This book becomes more tragic the more I read. Faren doesn’t want any help so she is essentially pimping herself out and now she might even do it to her bastard of a stepfather. I really really wish she would let Mick help her. I believe he would even if he was mad about it.

Mick just keeps pushing and I desperately want him to win. He knows they could be more but Faren is running on a clock that is almost out. I really like him. We learned more about him in this book. He has earned his money through work so he isn’t just some rich a-hole. He becomes a real person in this book even though we don’t see him much.

The good thing in this book is that we get some hope. We get some hope that Faren will confide in Mick. That Faren will let herself have the happiness she deserves even if it’s only for a little while. This book gets more heartbreaking but the author manages to give us little bits of hope that keep us going.

I really can’t wait to read the next one. That cliffhanger was ridiculous!!!

The Token 3

My thoughts…

I just finished this book and I am still kind of stunned.
I mean you know that all of the lying is going to come back to bite Faren in the ass but it still shocked me. I mean everything just happened so fast it was crazy. The lies exploded and then it was over. OMG!

I think this is my favorite installment so far. We got to see a very very sweet side of Mick. He will really do anything for her even though she keep insisting the “no strings” thing. He takes a couple hits in this installment and I really felt for him. We learned more about his past and his relationship with Thorn. I dislike Thorn a lot but it was nice to see him start to care about Faren even if it was only a little bit.

Faren finally admitted to her feelings for Mick. It was a little late but at least she admits them. It’s heartbreaking that all of these good things are happening for her (kind of) and she still only has a short time left. I really hope she stops the laps. I mean she doesn’t deserve to end it that way.

Here are the things I desperately need:
-Faren to go to Mick
-Her to stop lying to him
-Mick to forgive her
-And to get out of this series with my heart kind of intact

I can’t wait to read the next installments in the novella series!! This series is awesome. It's dark, sexy, and kind of real. People start doing some of these things for worse reasons. You get attached to the characters because it's really hard not to. You know in your gut that it is very unlikely that there will be a Happy Ever After but you can't help but root for one. Faren has really gotten the short end of the stick and she needs one. Overall this was an amazing first half of the novella series. If you like steamy, dark, suspenseful romances this one is definitely for you

Alright guys I’m off to buy the next three!!!
