Nareen, dragon shape-shifter and Queen of the ancient clan of Draca, is exhausted. She's seen the Draca through a year of unprecedented change and redemption. She's cast the major spells that brought sex and lust roaring back to life. She's initiated contact with the human world for the first time in hundreds of years.

She needs a vacation.

And more than that, she's deeply lonely. Forbidden by the Gods to mate for life until she completes the tasks they've given her, she longs for her share of the lust and love whirling among her kin. What's a shape-shifting Queen to do?

The answers she receives in an erotic psychotropic dream session ignite her, body, mind, and soul. She's flooded with images of a massive black-winged Draca. Her mate. Finally. However, he lives in the human world. Hidden. Captured and bound by a spell of dark punishment and secrecy. She must find him. Claim him. Bring him back to the sanctuary. As fast as possible, because Lydia, human daughter of Draca, is due to give birth to the first Draca/human child in millennia.

Yet nothing ever goes as planned for the sexy Draca when the mischievous machinations of the Gods are involved...requiring, of course, off-the-charts sex magic and so much more.

My Thoughts…

This is the third book in the Daughters of Draca series. I have not picked up the first two books but that didn't stop me from picking up this book either. I was able to follow along fairly well with the story even if I hadn't read the first two books. There were obviously some things that the characters talked about that I didn't completely understand but they gave me the gist of what happened in the previous books and that was enough for me. I wasn't confused and I was able to enjoy the story and the characters.

Nareen is a strong leader. The leader of her race of shape-shifters. The Draca. Humans that shape-shift into dragons. Nareen has spent so long taking care of everyone around her that she hasn't had time to breath let alone find her mate. The gods have told her not yet, she had other things she needed to take care of first. Until one night she asks the gods for permission to find him and they send her a dream. Not just any dream, a erotic dream that they call sex magic. Now she must find him. She has three days to convince him to love her. Mate with her. And to come back with her. Nareen is a smart and strong person.

She has made some mistakes as a leader but she has worked really hard to try and fix those mistakes. Now she is getting a much needed "vacation". I liked her character. She was arrogant but not so much that is was annoying. She was understanding and caring when she met her mate and she worked with him to fix the current problems.

This book was a quick read that was really interesting. The writing was done well and it flowed really well. The writing felt like a historical romance that was moved and set in modern times. Kelley sucks you in with all of the description she gives you that you can't help but get lost in the world that she created. It was something new and different and I couldn't help but get sucked in. The only thing lacking for me was the intimate scenes.
There was just something missing while reading them. They were not as steamy as I expected them to be but other than that the book was really good!
