One broken heart, one drink too many, one steamy night in the sand...

No one warns you about the dangers of drinking with a broken heart. At least no one warned me. I never imagined I'd fall for a musician, especially not one like Chase, but then again I never expected to have my heart broken into a million pieces by the frat guy I thought was the love of my life.

Sometimes it's the rash decisions, like hooking up in the sand, that lead you to the best places—the kinds of places where it's possible to let yourself fall in love again.

“You’ll have fun tonight.” She nudged me. “If you liked him enough to sleep with him, in theory you should enjoy an actual date with him.”

“This isn’t a date.”

“The guy asked you to go and get food. You’ve already had sex. It’s a date.”

This book was pretty amazing. I loved every second of it and laughed through most of it. There was a lot of humor and romance and sweetness, oh and did I mention definitely multiple swoon worthy minutes. I have read a few of Alyssa’s books but I have not read any of the Hazards books. But if they are anything like this one I will definitely pick them up. I love the idea that people can’t run from fate or that there really is the one person that you keep getting pushed to no matter how hard you fight it. Cara has recently broken up with the frat guy she has been with for almost two years. She has a broken heart so her friends take her to a house party to get her mind off of the a-hole. She meets a guy in a blazer and they get it on in the sand. When it is over she walks away. Doesn’t give her number or her last name. She never expects to see him again.

This book was a great one. I loved Cara. She was such a real character. She had been cheated on by her ex and now she has trouble believing that love exists. She runs into Chase again and can’t understand why he wants to see what is between them. Cara’s character was hilarious and I loved how she interacted with her sorority sisters and with Chase. She went into the relationship thinking it was going to be just a sex thing whenever she was in town. Cara got to learn that if you take risks you might find a happiness you never thought you could have. Cara starts growing as a person and becomes someone that isn’t dependent on a man and looks for things that make her happy. She finds new interests and becomes happier than she thought possible.

Chase. Now he was great. He became obsessed with the woman he met on the beach. He came out of his writing funk and was able to write lyrics again. The first song he writes is called Sex on the Beach. Chase gets to see Cara again and he isn’t about to let her run away again. His character was great too. I mean how many guys are that understanding. He works with Cara through her problems and the problems she has with their relationship. He is caring and patient. Chase doesn’t mind reminding Cara that she is all he wants over and over again. He becomes very protective but not is a controlling stalker way which is another bonus. Plus he is a hot, sexy weird, musician. Who can go wrong there?

The Hazards of Sex on the Beach is a great romance story. The writing was amazing. Alyssa was able to keep the story engaging and interesting without the need to add unnecessary drama. The romance and chemistry was straight forward. The storyline was more about them growing individually as well as together instead of on a third love interest or crazy ex’s. Granted Cara had one but he didn’t cause too many problems. This book was so great I would recommend it to any that wants a cute, quick, straight-forward romance story! I can’t wait to go back and read the other two!
