This is the second installment in the Le Beau series. We follow Simon, who we met in the first one, as he tries to get his human and wolf spirit back in harmony. Simon has just recently been back from a 4 year deployment overseas and now he has trouble keeping his human form. Anna has been working with him to help him heal. That’s when he meets Rose. His mate. He thinks about letting her go because he thinks he’s broken. But he can’t let her go so he commits himself to getting better and being whole.

Rose has grown up in foster homes. She has never had a real family like Simon and Anna have had. She only has her two foster brothers that helped save her from one of her more abusive homes. Rose hasn’t been the luckiest with relationships either so she has a hard time trusting men. She feels a connection with Simon but she doesn’t know what a man like him would want with someone as broken as her.

This book was good. I didn’t enjoy it as much as the first one but it was definitely worth the read. Rose and Simon had to grow together to fix the parts that were broken in the other. Rose grew a lot. She had to learn to accept Simon’s love as well as his families love. Simon’s recovery took a little less time. With the help of Anna and Rose’s presence he was able to fix his soul.

The book was really well written just like the first one. Part of my problem is that it seemed that some of the dialogue was copy and pasted from the first book. I mean some parts of it were word for word the same. Other than that I like Simon and Rose’s story. This installment added another layer to the Le Beau family. Another problem that is going to be a theme through the rest of the books. Dold is really able to write about a different couple each book but make it feel like one big story. We get answers about what Anna’s sons are going to do about being shifters. We get more from Anna and Cade. The books feel like one long story told from different POVs. It’s new and interesting and I really enjoy it. I will be picking up the next book!
