REVIEW: Surrender (Devil's Den #1) By, Violetta Rand

Welcome to the Devil’s Den, a Texas strip club where the air is heavy with desire—and sometimes dreams come true.

Ever since her mother kicked her out, twenty-year-old Robyn Gonzalez has been working the poles at the Devil’s Den, saving up to finish college and travel the world. With only her wits and her gorgeous body to rely on, Robyn has learned to be independent—fiercely independent. She’s never been tempted to let a man distract her from her dreams . . . until she meets the dead-sexy Garrick Dempsey.

The club’s new head of security, Garrick had walked away from a career as a mechanical engineer to return to his roots in Corpus Christi. He hadn’t planned on getting to know someone like Robyn, with her sinfully sweet combination of vulnerability and strength, at the Devil’s Den. She acts tough, but only because she’s been hurt. Soon Garrick knows he will do anything to win Robyn’s trust. And if that means surrendering to the red-hot chemistry between them, all the better.

Review
Robyn’s life has never been easy. She has been fighting to survive since she was kicked out of her home at fifteen. She has been trying to keep her education going and make a life for herself. After years of struggling she finds herself stripping at The Den. She hates what she has to do but she hates starving and being homeless more. Sadly this job gives her everything she needs. She can go to school full-time and it lets her put a roof over her head and lets her buy food. Before she knows it she witnesses and crime and runs right into Garrick’s arms.

Garrick is such a great character. He is wealthy, educated, and sexy. From the very beginning Garrick is interested in Robyn. He takes the time to get to know Robyn before the split for the night. When he begins prepping for his new job at The Den he sees Robyn again and they both start a relationship that is anything but clean.

While I enjoyed the majority of the book it seems like there were just some things that didn’t make sense. Garrick is an MIT engineer graduate that starts working head of security for a strip club. It just didn’t seem like something that would happen. I understand fiction is fiction for a reason but this didn’t seem plausible at all. There was also a lot of use of the word “snatch” and I really hate that word. It isn’t sexy, I don’t care what other people say.

While there were parts of the story that were jumbled and didn’t make sense there were parts that were good. Robyn was a strong character. She always took care of herself without relying on anyone else. Garrick was another great addition to the story. The pacing was actually done well too. The book was fast paced and the flow (for the most part) worked.

This was definitely a steamy romance that you should pick up, no matter the problems I had with it.
