REVIEW: Beyond These Walls (The Walls Duet #2) By, J.L. Berg

Happily ever after.

That was what we were supposed to have.

Pudding cups, sandy toes and a lifetime of making each and every one of our dreams come true—that is the future I’d promised her.

I could see it in my dreams, hold it in my hands, but then I watched as all of our hopes and wishes suddenly slipped through my fingers like sand.

I thought the worst was behind us, but what if we’d just delayed the inevitable?

They say love can overcome any obstacle. But can it survive death?

The breathtaking love story of Lailah and Jude concludes in Beyond These Walls.

Review

We started Lailah Buchanan and Jude Cavenaugh’s heart wrenching beautiful story in Within These Walls. Two people who have had their own troubles in their past find peace and redemption in each other. Within These Walls was definitely one of my favorite books that I read last year. I was definitely excited and nervous about this sequel because they got a happily ever after and I wasn’t sure if I could take any more heartbreak. But how could I not read more Jude and Lailah and I am so glad I did.

Beyond These Walls picks up a month before Lailah and Jude are about to get married. Lailah is as healthy as she can be and now she can experience the life she never had in the hospital. We really got to see a different side to Lailah. She was carefree, strong, and determined. I was really excited to see Lailah able to spread her wings and actually live. Jude, *sigh*, he was just Jude. He was sweet and romantic. He was everything that made us love him in the first book but he turned it up a notch. Jude is gentle and passionate in his care for Lailah and you can’t help but swoon.

Like I said in the beginning I was really nervous about the inevitable heart wrenching moments we were going to have in this book. The couple needed to be tested to see if their relationship was a strong as we all hoped it was and boy do they get tested. The journey this couple went through was bumpy and rough but it came full circle. There wasn’t anything that I could really complain about. I was left with a smile and very happy sigh when I finished the last page. J.L. Berg brought the emotional level that the first one did but in a completely different way. J.L. Berg is always able to create stories that dig into your soul and stay there. Jude and Lailah will definitely stick with me and J.L. Berg just confirmed her auto buy author spot on my list.
